When owners Danny and Carol Maley opened Danny's Pizza in 1973,
the closest Pizza restaurant was 50 miles away. Today, all the
big name competitors have come to town but Danny's is still #1
among residents here. And it's not just the mouth-watering pizza,
salads and sandwiches that keep them coming back. Danny’s has a
selection of beers, bottle and draft ,
domestic and imports. Also a selection of
wines perfect to compliment your meal. Danny and Carol
have added many appetizers to their menu including hot wings,
spinach and artichoke dip, mozzarella cheese sticks, beer battered
mushrooms, and many more!
Danny’s has a delightful décor
consisting of stucco and brick in a
Mediterranean design . The interior walls, beams just
about everything, is covered with artifacts,
collectables, staff photos from 31 years, and photos of
famous diners over the years at Danny’s. Some photos include
Ronnie Milsap, Maynard Ferguson Band,
Lynard Skynard
guitarist Ricky Medlock, Maureen Mo
Tucker of the Velvet Underground, concert
pianist Pierre D’archambeau, The Tams,
and many more.
Danny also organizes a marching band for the annual Douglas
Christmas Parade. Musicians young and old from Douglas, and
surrounding towns form the “Danny’s Pizza All Star Marching Band.”
The first band in 1997 had 18 members strong, now
anywhere from 60 to 75 horns and percussion, plus dance line,
liven up this nighttime lighted parade in Douglas,
Ga. the first Saturday of December.
